MINI- MESSAGES FROM DENNY WADE GARRETT   CONTACT  DENNY WADE

As Christians, we try various ways to explain to the world what Jesus means to us, or what He IS  to us. Over the years we've coined phrases like, "God is my co-pilot" and the old song says, "Jesus rides in my vessel" as we struggle to explain what it is that Jesus is and does for us. I've recently come to understand God is NOT my co-pilot, He IS the pilot.  Jesus is not IN the vessel with me, Jesus IS the vessel.

If the Church could only fully grasp this, what a mighty witness for God we would become. The world doesn't comprehend God being our co-pilot or Jesus riding in the vessel with us, because they have semi-control of their lives without Christ, so what is the new life they're offered if they're just trading in one co-pilot for another? Or if they're just asking Christ to sit in the boat with them? If we could ever get it into our spirits that God is THE pilot and Christ is THE vessel in which we ride, how awesome would our message be to those who see us in our daily walk? They would understand, finally, that it is not we, ourselves, who have made the change our lives reflect; they would finally see that because we have surrendered our lives to Christ, that God's Will has become the ruler of our destinies, they would cry out to God to give them the vessel of Christ to ride in with God piloting the way down the river of life.

We don't control our futures, we have no say in our present because we surrendered to Christ, and through Him, God leads us where He wants us to go. If we fully allow God to be the pilot of the vessel of Christ in which we ride, we don't have to know what to say to those who question us, as God will give us the words to speak via Holy Spirit, or as my Mammaw called Him, Holy Ghost. If we ever truly relinquish control to God, what a mighty witness we will become! Because we won't be involved the process. God will take us where we need to be, to those who need to hear what Holy Spirit has to say, or to those who need to see that Christ is the vessel we ride in, that our lives are governed by God's will, not our own, and they will finally understand the power and freedom that God gives.

It's time we stop trying to control our lives or trying to find the words to say to those around us. It's time we get out of the co-pilots seat and out of the vessel of our making where we've asked Jesus to be our passenger and get into the vessel that is Jesus Christ, the vessel that is piloted by God, the Father and let Holy Spirit be our passenger/guide. Then we will know the truest freedom and power that God has planned for us, all along.

May God richly bless you as walk in His paths and may His Word become a hunger in your heart, soul and mind.
