The recent comments by Pope Benedict XVI have me very concerned. Throughout his papacy, he has concerned me, but the comments he's made regarding the Jewish people over the course of his tenure are more than a little troubling. His recent comments regarding Pope Pius XII, his defense of Pius especially, are worrisome.

This pope has a history of making comments regarding the Jewish people that show an underlying anti-Semitism that hasn't been seen in the papacy in decades, and it is very disturbing to see them, now. We know we're living in the end-times, what with the Jewish state only being 62 years old, this May, and for the pope to be an anti-Semite makes one wonder if the truth of the anti-Christ is that whomever is pope at the time will be the anti-Christ.

I've long wondered if the truth is that the anti-Christ will be the pope considering the anti-Christ will not only be a powerful political figure, but also he almost certainly will have to be a religious figure, as well, to deceive so many Christians. The only person, or office, I can think of who will hold that much power in both worlds would be the pope. Many have hinted that the President of the United States of America holds that much power, but the truth of the matter is, the President doesn't hold much religious power, if any.

Benedict XVI is certainly one of the most controversial occupiers of the papacy in recent history, and with the anti-Semitical statements that he's made, and the general unrest the Jewish peoples feel toward him, it's definitely food for thought.
